It is often the first step, that we find is the hardest step.
Leaving the world we know, for the great beyond isn't always easy. It isn't supposed to be. There are many cliches, "take the road less traveled..." etc. I get it and you get it. But how often do we actually do it?
Our life's "to do" list grows daily, but how much do we accomplish? If we are like most people, we become frustrated and move onto the next project, discounting the first one as not so important or necessary anymore. It is the way of the lazy and trepidatious.
But for those who dream...for those who aspire...for those who believe that they can achieve...life can be filled with so much inner peace, it is amazing. You don't have to conquer the world, but you can make a difference.
Americans are consumed with quantity anymore and not quality. How sad. We could achieve so much more and make such an impact, if we just went back to the "basics."
When letting your children play in your front yard was safe. When the dinner, bath and bedtime schedule wasn't centered around television. When caller ID was looking through your "peep" hole to see who rang your doorbell and not your wireless phone. When people still went to the library and had to look things up on index cards.
Now, don't get me wrong...I am all for technology; thus I am here. However, I still believe that the basics apply, especially when children are concerned. If you have the basics and build a foundation, then you can teach your children to navigate through life; through anything.
The "basics" will help you take the first step in making a change in your life and then, in the life of others.
Baby steps. You have to learn to crawl before you can walk.
WHIM is my crawling attempt to my first baby step. It has motivated me to be a better person, daughter, sister, wife, mother, auntie, friend, co-worker and dreamer.
Dare to dream with me?
